Mission
Statement |

The
Appraisal Issues Task Force (AITF) is a voluntary group of
professional appraisers who wish to improve the practice of
valuation. The FASB and the SEC are increasingly looking to
information regarding Fair Value, or Fair Market Value. Yet
there is a lack of authoritative guidance regarding so-called
Best Practice. Each practitioner is left to his or her own
professional judgment; at times equally competent professionals
come to differing conclusions as to the appropriate valuation
approach.
The AITF is
designed to help establish and interpret existing rules.
Further, it will work with the FASB and the SEC to evaluate
proposals and recommend methodology, assumptions and
approaches. Periodic meetings of the AITF are open to all
interested parties. This web site lists current members.
If you wish
to join, please contact
Margaret
Schlachter at American Appraisal Associates.
If you have
valuation questions you would like answered, please post them on
our discussion board as a new discussion. We will post consensus
answers on this web site. While not having the force of
GAAP, the members of AITF expect that the consensus answers
should be the basis for practice.
This is an
industry-wide consortium, and everyone's views are both
important and welcome.
